OUR MUSIC PROGRAMME

At Hamelin-Laie, we have a large music programme that stretches across our curriculum and includes exciting extracurricular activities. Through music education, our students explore creative ways to express themselves.

MUSIc EDUCATION

In our exciting music programme, your child will:

Learn the basic techniques of an instrument and gain the skills to enjoy music in individual and group practice, while developing important qualities for success, like patience, attention, and concentration.
Take part in performances that encourage students to understand and enjoy their collaborative work in music.
Develop a musical understanding and sensitivity to a wide variety of musical styles.
Develop a respect of their peers, build their social skills and relationships. They will learn to collaborate with others, gain tolerance, solidarity and intercultural knowledge.
Learn that we're all different and that differences can be interesting. Music is all about cooperation rather than competition.

LOWER SECONDARY SCHOOL

Our lower secondary students study an instrument during class and play in a group, as part of a Big Band.

They build their skills through practice and experience and are free to choose which instrument they would like to play.

BIG BAND INSTRUMENTS

Wind Section: Trumpet (Bb), rod trombone, and alto sax

Rhythm section: Piano, bass, and drums

THE HAMELIN-LAIE BIG BAND

Students who want to continue playing in a Big Band can play in our official Hamelin-Laie Big Band – formed of students who wish to expand upon and continually practise their musical talents.

OUR EXTRACURRICULAR MUSIC ACTIVITIES

Individual classes

Individual lessons are a great way to build on musical skills and talents. Our dynamic teachers offer classes of 30 minutes or 1 hour in: piano, guitar, ukulele, bass, drums, sax, trumpet, trombone, violin, orcello.

Group classes

We also offer group lessons in a number of instruments and pair students with others of the same level so that they can progress together. We also offer a beginner group for primary students who are interested in starting to learn the trumpet, sax, or guitar.
