Written by a Secondary student:
This year, Hamelin Day was about much more than celebrating together. As Secondary students, we wanted to use the event as an opportunity to support a cause that matters, so we decided to organise a fundraiser for the Ricky Rubio Foundation.
From the beginning, we were involved in every part of the project. We organised a raffle for a signed Ricky Rubio jersey, helped coordinate the sale of official Foundation products and encouraged our school community to get involved. It took planning, teamwork and commitment, but seeing everyone's support made it all worthwhile.

Thanks to the generosity of our families and the wider Hamelin community, we raised €1,418.86. Every euro was donated to the Ricky Rubio Foundation to support its work raising awareness of lung cancer and promoting wellbeing through sport.
One of the most exciting moments came when we had the opportunity to visit the Ricky Rubio Foundation and present the cheque in person. Meeting Ricky Rubio and learning more about the Foundation's mission helped us understand the real impact of what we had achieved together. He also signed us a jersey, making the experience even more memorable.

What we will remember most is not the amount we raised, but what we learned along the way. This project showed us that even small actions can make a difference when people come together around a shared purpose. It taught us about responsibility, leadership and the importance of helping others.
At Hamelin-Laie, learning does not only happen in the classroom. Experiences like this give us the opportunity to take initiative, work as a team and connect with real challenges in the world around us. They help us grow not only as students, but also as people.
We would like to thank our teacher, Xavi Ayala, for supporting us throughout the project and helping us turn our ideas into reality. We are also incredibly grateful to all the families who participated and contributed so generously.
This experience reminded us that we can create positive change. Together, we showed what can happen when students are given the opportunity to lead.
