From Dublin to Barcelona: Hamelin Students Connect with Young Innovators from Across Europe

From Dublin to Barcelona: Hamelin Students Connect with Young Innovators from Across Europe | Hamelin-Laie - STEAM Festival 2026

What happens when students from ten different countries come together to solve problems, share ideas and learn from one another?

Our Year 6 students recently discovered the answer at the 2026 Nord Anglia Europe STEAM Festival in Dublin, hosted by Nord Anglia International School Dublin.

Over three days, they joined students from across Europe to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) through hands-on challenges, collaborative projects and interactive workshops.

While the activities were exciting, what made the experience truly memorable was the opportunity to work alongside peers from different cultures and backgrounds. Students learned to communicate, collaborate and think creatively as part of international teams, developing skills that extend far beyond the classroom.

A visit to Microsoft's Dublin campus offered valuable insight into how innovation, technology and creativity shape the world around us. At Explorium, Dublin's interactive science centre, students were encouraged to experiment, ask questions and explore scientific concepts through hands-on discovery.

There was also time to experience Dublin itself. From exploring the city's streets to discovering aspects of Irish culture, students returned home with new perspectives, greater confidence and unforgettable memories.

We are incredibly proud of how they represented Hamelin throughout the festival. Their curiosity, enthusiasm and willingness to embrace new experiences reflected the values we strive to nurture every day.

And the story doesn't end there. In 2027, Hamelin-Laie will host the Nord Anglia Europe STEAM Festival, welcoming students from across the region to our campus in Barcelona.

For our students, this means a unique opportunity to continue building international connections, sharing ideas and collaborating with young people from across Europe - all without leaving home.

These experiences are part of what makes a Hamelin education distinctive. Through Nord Anglia's global opportunities, students don't simply learn about the world; they engage with it directly.
