When Spain's leading media outlets sought expert advice on helping students navigate PAU (also known as Selectividad, Spain’s university access exams) season, they turned to Hamelin-Laie International School.
Our School Psychologist, Milana Maliaukaite, was recently featured in El Periódico and AS, sharing insights on exam pressure, student wellbeing, and how families can support young people during this important stage of their educational journey.
Her message reflects a belief at the heart of Hamelin-Laie: academic success and emotional wellbeing go hand in hand.
For many students, PAU represents the culmination of years of hard work. Alongside academic preparation, they must manage expectations, uncertainty, and the pressure that can come with university admissions.
As Milana explained in her interviews:
At Hamelin-Laie, students benefit from rigorous academic preparation, personalised university guidance, and dedicated wellbeing support throughout their Secondary and Baccalaureate years.

Many students find the waiting period after PAU just as challenging as the exams themselves. As Milana reminds families: "The grade is already where it needs to be. The only thing that hasn't arrived yet is the result."
While PAU can influence the next stage of a student's journey, it does not define who they are. As Milana says:
At Hamelin-Laie, we encourage students to pursue academic excellence while recognising that success is not defined by a single exam result, but by the knowledge, resilience, character, adaptability and confidence students carry with them long after exam season is over.
It is essential to help young people keep exams in perspective, to recognise them as significant milestones, but only one part of a much broader personal and educational journey.
The national recognition of Milana's expertise reflects our wider commitment to supporting every aspect of student development.
